Bokshay Yosyp
(1891-1975)
Was born on October 2, 1891 in the village of Kobyletska Polyana, Rakhiv, Transcarpathia.
He studied at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts (1910-1914).
Since 1918 he had been working as a painter and teacher in Uzhhorod.
In 1950-1956 was teaching at Lviv State Institute of Arts and Crafts.
A member of the National Union of Ukrainian Artists since 1946.
Yosyp Bokshay is an Honoured Ukrainian Art Worker(1951), People’s Artist of Ukraine(1960), People’s Artist of the USSR(1963).
He is an author of numerous landscapes, genre compositions, portraits, still lives.
