People`s Artist of Ukraine, laureate of regional and national creative awards. Famous Transcarpathian painter and graphic artist, pedagogue, teacher of the Transcarpathian Art Academy. Disciple of Z. Bakoniia, A. Shepa and M. Medvetskyi, creative follower of A. Kashshai, Z. Sholtes, E. Kontratovych, F. Manailo, A. Kotska. He graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute, graphics faculty. He is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1968. An active participant of regional (since 1962), Ukrainian (since 1966) and foreign (since 1972) exhibitions and international plein airs. Since 1981 he has been the author of many personal exhibitions in Ukraine and Slovakia. He actively and fruitfully works in different genres and techniques. The author of numerous portrait series, natural and urban landscapes, watercolor and graphic works. The creative credo of the artist – “harmony in simplicity”. The works of Vasyl Skakandii are characterized by the high artistic culture based on the solid innate taste, impeccable professional skills and devotion to the traditions of the Transcarpathian school of painting.
